For as long as I can remember I have used a 20x mirror as a form of punishment. This body of work is called Daddi’s Girls. All these women are direct representations of me. They are all self-portraits that are searching to find the beauty and humor within my own skewed self-image. 36 pieces in the series were started and completed in 2023. Throughout the process the words and the portraits became progressively angrier.

Colored pencil is my chosen medium because it is laborious and I like suffering while I am making these drawings in a rage.

I took nude figure drawing since 7th grade and because of my fixation with staring at myself, all of my portraits ended up looking like me. That’s how this body of work came to be. Within my exploration of drawing my ugly, I found my need to portray something beautiful.
